The Loj. The Loj (formerly Ecology House) brings together students who share a common interest in the outdoors.  The purpose of the Loj is to support various ways of relating to the natural environment such as adventure/ recreational activities, environmental activism, academic study and outdoor/ experiential education.  The Loj is linked with Outdoor Education aw well as other outdoor-related campus groups.  House members are responsible for planning outdoor/ environmentally-based programming that brings together students, faculty/ staff and families of both the Colgate and Hamilton communities.  Residents’ interests determine how the Loj promotes multiple approaches to experiencing the outdoors and understanding environmental impacts.  The Loj cooperative living community focuses on living locally – i.e. developing connections to Hamilton and the land that extend beyond the classroom to everyday life.
