Positions in Islamic Studies, beginning Fall
2004
(i.e. application deadlines of Fall 2003)
-The following list is not intended to be exhaustive, merely a beginning resource for our members. While every attempt is made to make sure that it does include all jobs for Islamic Studies, you might be able to qualify for jobs in other departments based on your qualifications.
-The emphasis is usually on tenure-track jobs, although attempts will be made to identify temporary positions as well.
-The following list usually includes jobs through departments of Religion, Philosophy and Religion, or Theology. It does not always include jobs in Middle Eastern Studies, Near Eastern Studies, Classics, History, Anthropology, Women's Studies, etc. To put it differently, if a school conducts its interviews at the AAR, it will probably be listed here. If it conducts them at MESA, AHA, etc., it may or may not be.
The list focuses on jobs in the United States. There are of course other positions in Canada, Europe, Asia, etc. which are not always included.
-The positions are simply listed in alphabetical order.
-If any school
has an opening which they would like to advertise here, the advertisements may
be sent to Omid Safi,
(email:
osafi@mail.colgate.edu) the webmaster for the Study of Islam section at the AAR.
