Body Image Network
The purpose of BIN is to support the development of healthy body image in and around the Colgate community through advocacy, education, programming, and open discussion.
We focus on several themes, including:
Promoting healthy body image and healthy eating habits
Identifying and responding to the media’s influence on body image/perception
Learning how to prevent disordered eating styles and support healthy eating styles
Group activities have included:
Women’s Studies Brown Bag Lunches
Organizing hall programs and other workshops
Exhibit and Discussion of “The Century Project” with photographer Frank Cordelle
Poster and letter writing campaigns
Multicultural panel discussions on beauty ideals
Becoming a Member of BIN:
If you are interested in psychology, women’s studies, medicine, nutrition, or sociology, this is a great way to get involved on campus and gain some valuable experience.
