Colgate Christian Fellowship is a chapter of InterVaristy on Colgate University's campus. Our purpose on campus is
the same as the rest of Intervarsity, to see:
Students and Faculty Transformed Now all of that might sound pretty ambiguous so let me break it down. The Gospel (good news) has this weird mysterious power, when confronted in its fullness, to radically change lives. As students and faculty encounter the truth about a God who loves them we anticipate some pretty powerful stuff to grow from within their lives. New degrees of freedom, a newly discovered true identity, and even a unique purpose for their lives. You can go ahead and say it's childish to say such things, but then I'd guess you're probably pretty animus towards religion and maybe even towards God. Colgate Christian Fellowship desires to break down the stereotypes and baggage that comes from religion. If you really get to know us you'll discover that we're not a bunch of judgmental people throwing "Bible" grenades at innocent civilians walking by. First and foremost we love people, right where they are at (and that means you too). We accept them. We strive to love people so much that it becomes the motivation for everything we do. The reason we desire to see people come into a relationship with Jesus and the reason we desire to see our campus renewed isn't because we want a notch on our belt for being a good "Christian Soldier." It's because we love people so much and hate to see them carry around burdens that are taking their toll. We don't think that's a life to live at all, constantly loaded down and just grasping for straws. We want to renew our campus so that people can discover a life that is truly life (if you know what I mean). Lastly, at Colgate Christian Fellowship we don't just want to care for people while they are here. We want to lay the foundation for students lives, so that when they leave Colgate they can enter into the professional world (or wherever) and impact the lives around them. We want you to know that it's not about getting notches on our belts; our motivation is love. We are imperfect people, yes, but we strive to become like Christ and love people the way He did.
