CEWS Profile: Zainab Bahrani Zainab Bahrani received her Ph.D. at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University in 1989. She is the Edith Porada Associate Professor of Ancient Near Eastern Art and Archaeology and Director of Art Humanities at Columbia University. She specializes in the Ancient Art & Architecture of the Mediterranean & the Middle East. Her current research addresses the archeological legacy of ancient cities in the Middle East and highlights the destruction and looting of cultural sites in Iraq during the armed conflict. She has published articles on this theme in the Nation and The Guardian. She has also published work on colonial and postcolonial theory and gender and feminist theories. |
