Caribbean Week

Dates: Mon. March 26 – Sun. March 31, 2007

 

RAM Haitian Band: Total Funding $11,000

 

Planners: Nzinga, Tiffany, Mike, Sasha, Genisa

Transportation: $1550: Birnie Bus: JFK to Colgate round trip

Food: Breakfasts at hotel, Lunch and Dinners covered by ALANA? (Nzinga)

Lodging: $9500 Wendt Hotel

Fees: $3000 for band

 

Needed:

 

1. Transportation:

            Van drivers: Hakim, Jessica, Thachell, Paige, Lorene, Wil (Tiffany)

            Van costs: MONEY (Nzinga)

 

2. Backline: Amps for sound equipment: ~$1000 (Mike to call BSI at 607 273 2369)

Request:

You'll have to supply sound equipment plus what’s known as a backline (amps)
We have:
2 keyboards
1 guitar
1 Drum kit (you supply)
2 hand drums
1 Bass guitar
2 lead singers
One of the keyboards sings and the drum kit player sings also.

 

3. Entertainment for RAM: (Sasha)

Find out events on campus during Caribbean Week (times and locations) to put together some options for the band members to choose from in their downtime

 

4. Advertisement: (Genisa)

No money to cover this: Grapevine, Facebook, CUTV, radio, newspaper, Printer paper, anything

 

5. Detailed Calendar of Events: (Tiffany, Nzinga)

            Needs to show when and where things are happening

            When van drivers are needed

When CSA members are needed to take RAM members to and from places

Which CSA members will be doing what/ when

Emergency contact cell phone numbers

 

CSA/ ASU Food Day: Tuesday, March 27

ASU: Lunch?/ CSA: Dinner?

 

To do:

  1. Decide on a theme (CSA/Kristal)

  2. Put together a menu for Phil (Amelia)

  3. Contact person for Phil to deal with (Gabby Barrow, Sasha)

  4. Decide on who will decorate (Kristal)

  5. Decide on who will pull down decorations (Mike)

  6. Entertainment: CD’s etc (Tiffany, Genisa)

 

Island Vibez

Date: April (During Spring Party Weekend)

 

Planners: Tiffany, Genisa, Amelia, Nzinga, Gabby, Kristal

Theme: Black Gold

Proposal not put to BAC yet

Co-hosts: WeFunk, Bacchus

Location: Palace

 

Ideas: Have ~5 females and 3 males dress in costume (a la French Connection)

            *All Black for males, Gold and black for females*

These hostesses/hosts will serve appetizers and beverages (by Bacchus) in martini style plastic glasses

 

Need:   Costume ideas/prices (Tiffany/Amelia/Kristal??)

            Talk to Bacchus (Nzinga)

            Prices of martini glasses (Amelia)

            Black and gold beads and masks/ prices (Genisa)

            DJ/cost (Genisa)

            Talk to Scott at the Palace about ideas (Gabby)

            Talk to Spring Party Weekend committee (Nzinga/Tiffany)

World Expo

Date: April (Sunday, March 31)

 

Planners: Nzinga, Tiffany, Mike

Location: Sanford Field House

Time: 1-5pm

 

Food:

            Patties (Chicken, Beef, Vegetable)

            Escoveitched Fish

            Fried Dumplings

 

Need:

            Order food from Jerk Hut Restaurant; Bongo (Mike)

            Give Jerk Hut information to Mike (Nzinga)

            Find out about VISIONS opinion on getting a CSA sign printed and laminated (Tiffany)

            CSA volunteers to stand at table (Mike)

 

Dancefest

Date: May

 

Planner: Tiffany

Location: Chapel

CSA having one dance (old dancehall)

Practice begins Sunday March 4: 2-3pm in Ryan

 

Need:

            Dancers: also outside of CSA (Tiffany)

            Music selection (Tiffany/Amelia)

 

N.B. Extra Things:

Mike: Will advertise events through ResLife: to all RA's, CC's, and Apartment Managers

Sylvia: Will have ALST foot the bill for posters for Caribbean Week and other things

  1. We need students from ’08, ’09, and ’10 to step up for leadership

    5. Alumni Coordinator: Zwena McLeod (abroad - is this position necessary??)
