Colgate Idol

"Ridiculous(ly) Talented": Watch the best and most foolish in Colgate vocalists battle it out in front of a panel of critical judges...then go behind the scenes for hilarious interviews and to meet the rabid fans of the finalists! The Thong Song of Subtleties, "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" performed in Japanese by a ninja, moose pants, soulful ballads and opera...we have it all. So come sing for us, or at least laugh at those who do! You could be the NEXT COLGATE IDOL!

 

Food Fight

In a land where Keystone paves the streets with gold and money is at an all-time low, two teams of contestants will come head to head in a battle of culinary might that makes Iron Chef look like a bunch of amateurs. So pull up a chair, grab your beverage of choice, and tune in to Food Fight, the show that turns up the heat!

  Chick Chat
The Man Show has earned a cult-like status with men around the country by looking at sexuality through a male perspective.  Chick Chat was created to provide an Estrogen Alternative.  They examine sexual issues and the freshman experience with each other and Colgate callers.  The video clip is from their show examining pick-up lines.

Gateline

One of CUTV's oldest running talk shows, Gateline sends Colgate the "news" with a twist.  With many different segments (such as Cruiser Confessions), Gateline still entertains all who watch.

  FREAK NASTY
Funk; pornography; Ultimate Fighting; bear suits; 1930's-style silent films: what do all of these have in common? You need to get freak nasty to find out.  This spring, the debut of FREAK NASTY launched on CUTV to become an overnight success.  The CUTV studio phones lit up with a record high two calls in response to the Series Premiere.  President Jane Pinchin may have remarked--Finally, something I can get freaky to. Pinchin may even be planning to present awards to creators Nathan Thomas and Dave McGrath in kudos to the show.  For the best sketch comedy and live skits on television you need only to turn to FREAK NASTY, Monday nights at 9:00.

  Ill Communication
Ill Communication was the Comedic Centerpiece of the CUTV line-up for many years.  Created by Juston Payne and Tyler Littwin, this show went through many transformations, ending up as a smart, skit-based show.  Robot Fighting and the Crab Walk are some fan-favorite pieces, which are featured in the video clip.

  The Not So Late Show
First there was Carson, then came Leno and Letterman, and now exclusively on CUTV comes The Not So Late Show.  A combination of political satire, Colgate criticism, and all out craziness, the show debuting in the fall of 2002 expects to be  a hysterical edition to the CUTV lineup.   Favorite segments include stupid human tricks, gate-walking (similar to Leno’s Jay-walking), and of course the top ten, in addition to special guests, musical acts, and original sketches.

Madison U.
The first ever original soap opera to air on CUTV, Madison U. premiered in the spring of 2002.  With plot twists and scandal that would put Melrose place to shame, this series reflects the fun and drama of all your daytime and prime time soap operas.  Be likened to a Cruel Intentions and Days of Our Lives, Madison U. tells the story of the Palmer family. Carissa, Caleb, and Jackson take the art of relationships to a new level by being oh so bad. The show has a cast of more than a dozen students actors and a team of student writers who all help to create a fresh and entertaining series that brings CUTV out of the studio. Come join these college co-eds every Wednesday night at 9pm.

The Match Game
  Students were not surprised when a recent study of Taylor Lake found the chemical composition to be 40% water and 60% _______."  Curious to see how people would fill in that blank?  We were and that's why we brought back to life THE MATCH GAME, that wacky game show from the 70s.  We've filled our panel with Colgate's own celebrities, from students to professors who continually make us laugh.  Be in the live studio audience when we film the shows for your chance to be a contestant.  You could walk away with up to $185.

  Race-ing Time
After first airing four years ago with Rhodes Scholar Antonio Delgado, RACE-ing Time has continued its success during its fifth season on CUTV. The channel's longest running show, "RACE-ing Time" is a live, interactive show that focuses on issues of race developing on campus and throughout the world. Past shows this year have included an in-depth discussion of the racial incidents and sit-in reaction of African-American students in Fall 2001, and a debate with embattled Maroon-News writer Stephen Fair in the Spring. You can catch the show every Sunday night at 9.  Call up!

Redondo
Skit-based comedy shows can seem to blend together these days, but Redondo brings a fresh take to the genre.  They mix board-sports, rock & roll music, and hilarious pranks together to create a show like no other.  The video clip is of their daring attempt to bring head-banging music to the dusty halls of Case Library.

  TOP 13
Help Hilary and J.R. countdown the top thirteen videos, selected by you the viewer, every Wednesday at 8:00pm.  With a mix of pop, rap, rock, and original Colgate music videos this show has everything.

  Uncle Frank's Mildly Erotic Cabin
When thinking up a name for a new show, creators usually throw around a variety of possible titles.  It seems as if the creators of Uncle Frank's Mildly Erotic Cabin combined all their ideas into one memorable name.  UFMEC is a skit based comedy show with a Wayne's World feel.  Their ability to bring strange characters to life makes for a hilarious good time.  Check out the video clip to see "Colgate Double Blind Date."

  The World Matters
Started by Arnoldas Pranckevicius, The World Matters has been carried forward by Amitabha Gupta and Joanna Allegretti.  Dedicated to tackling important world issues, this show brings together Colgate students and faculty for exciting discussion.  A talk about War with Iraq is featured in the video clip.

  Ethan and Scott's Excellent Adventures

Join Ethan and Scott as they journey around the Colgate campus exploring places in all different dimensions.

  Raider Rock
RaiderROCK is a music-related television program. Originally created by CUTV General Manager Keenan Binkley, the show is currently produced by new General Manager Tom Bowles '03. The show is a mix of various current and classic music videos, along with MTV-type skits that lighten up the show and give it a unique, musically-inclined sense of humor. Among the show's highlights from last year included Kris Kross day, where Anthony Caragiulo '03 and Justin Waytowich '03 dressed up outside the coop to celebrate everyone's favorite old skool rap group; and 4 The Ladiez, a parody of the numerous boy bands currently topping the charts.

  Speaking Greek
The Panhellenic community is an integral part of the Colgate experience.  Recent issues involving greek life, such as the sanctions put on Beta Theta Pi, spurred the development of of the show Speaking Greek.  The shows to inform students about news, upcoming events, and important issues relating to fraternities and sororities.  The video clip is from their show discussing diversity in the greek system.
