Each conference applicant must submit a manuscript with his or her application. The manuscript should be a sample of your writing - a short story, a
sheaf of 4-6 poems, an article or essay, or a chapter of a book accompanied by a brief (250 word max.) outline. Please limit all submissions to a maximum of 25
pages. All manuscripts should be double spaced (double spacing is optional for poetry manuscripts) and the font should be 12pt or larger. At the top of each page
please include your name, the title of the piece, and the page number. This manuscript is generally the piece that you wish to have "workshopped" or discussed in
class. Your instructor will schedule a personal conference about it during the week. If you decide to workshop a different piece after you apply, just let us know.
The new manuscript must be received by May 15, 2010.
If you are mailing a paper application, please include three copies of your manuscript. If you are applying online, email your manuscript to
colgatewritersconference@gmail.com after you have submitted the online application form. Please email your
manuscript as a Microsoft Word document or HTML file. If you cannot do so, try sending the file in its native format. We'll do our best to open it and we'll let you
know if we cannot.
*Everyone's familiar with the problems of email viruses and SPAM, so when emailing your manuscript please be sure to include 'CWC' in the subject line.*
