The Colgate English
Equestrian Team currently has 20 members and is a highly competitive
member of Zone II, Region III of the IHSA. Last year, we finished 4th in
the region, and six of our riders qualified for regionals! In addition,
we were the highest finishing club program (as compared to varsity
teams)! The team is coached by Anna Hackney and practices twice a week at Saddleback Farm in Hamilton, NY. Lessons are an hour long and there are usually three to four people in each lesson. In addition, the team holds larger practices before horseshows. The Team shows eight times a semester at Cornell, Hartwick, Morrisville, and Skidmore. Team dues are $800 per semester and include the use of Saddleback's horses and facilities, ten weeks of lessons, and travel expenses at horseshows. In order to remain competitive, the team needs riders of all levels. Tryouts are held at the beginning of each year and riders from beginner through advanced are encouraged to try out for the team!!
