Serenades of Summer

Dear Music Lovers
Ah, summer in the country! What could be more enticing after the long and snowy winter? Do you dream of a place where you could hike and cycle, attend a yoga or pottery class, have a massage, wander a lovely historic village and browse quaint shops, stop for a fresh organic meal, top it off with a chamber music concert, and then retire to a cozy B&B or inn? ... Chenango Summer MusicFest’s “Country Classics” is your dream come true!

As I prepare to welcome our internationally renowned artists for our annual summer chamber music festival, I am eager to announce several new adventures at Chenango! This year, you will be able to combine your music festival with an assortment of activities for rest, renewal, and regeneration. Stay for a week or a few days, and open your ears, eyes, and mind to the beauty that our music and region have to offer. Discover inventive programs in historic locations, relax with new and old ’Fest friends, and find a renewed energy as you fill your days with restorative activities. (For details, see the “Create a Retreat” panel in this brochure.)

We are delighted to collaborate with the Partnership for Community Development in our presentation of Village Day. The PCD showcases an exciting group of costumed Bosnian performers on Village Day, as a prelude to Hamilton’s MusicMix on July 30! Also new are pre-’Fest concerts in the exquisitely renovated Earlville Opera House, where we invite you to get a head start on imbibing the relaxed and comfortable feel of the festival.

Once again, you will have the opportunity to meet our talented young people, the Chenango Players, in their performances around town. Our professional ’Fest artists look forward to spending time with you at the many events surrounding the three “Country Classic” concerts, including a wine tasting, special international dinner, and at the many events on the green on Village Day. In celebration of our country roots, we are even planning a country dance! So leave your dress clothes at home and come experience our special version of rural America, where the musical arts join hands with superb natural resources and small-town ambiance to nurture your whole being.

As we celebrate the surge of summer in the country, come bask in the harmony, beauty, and activities that Hamilton has to offer. I invite you to craft your own beginning-of-summer experience at the Chenango Summer MusicFest, where worlds of music blossom amid small-town charm...See you in June!
