Due to weather conditions and field complications, the scheduled Scrumstock tournament in Binghamton was cancelled. Fortunately, this left several teams looking for a game and enough time to organize a tournament of our own. The result was the 'April Showers Round Robin Tournament' between Colgate University, SUNY Cortland, and SUNY Oneonta at Colgate University. In the first match, SUNY Cortland soundly defeated SUNY Oneonta. The second match featured Colgate University facing off against conference opponent, SUNY Cortland. The Lady Still Reds wasted no time in setting the tone, swinging it out wide to the speedy sophomore wing, Jamie Breedlove, who outran the nearest defenders for a 70 meter try. The senior fullback, Allison Paiano, continued the demonstration of Colgate's superior speed and running ability with another try only minutes later. Cortland was determined to make a game of it and did so with a try from a powerful run by their #1. Just moments later, however, the freshman lock, Elayna Hamashuk plowed through several defenders and grounded the ball just across the goal line to regain a comfortable lead. Jamie Breedlove struck again from the wing from 60 meters out in the second half to put the game out of reach. The victory put the standings at Colgate: 1-0; Cortland: 1-1; Oneonta; 0-1, meaning that a victory over Oneonta would give Colgate first place on the day.
