The Purpose
God in his very nature is a loving God. Sure, you've all heard it, "God loves you" but it's not just a meaningless phrase. It is where it all begins. It was God's love that prompted him to create everything that has been created and it is God's love that has prompted us to begin theJourney. Without His love everything that we do here at theJourney would be in vain.
The truth is God loves you. He does. Not only does He love you right now, He loves you unconditionally even if you don't love him. Regardless of how hard we try as human beings we can't earn God's love. But we can respond to it.
And that's where you come in. You've been created with the capacity to respond to God's love by loving Him back. By giving to Him your life with all of your mind, body, soul, and strength. This is what we at theJourney call worship. We believe God's love is so great that all we can do in response is to dedicate ourselves to Him by pursuing Him and His unique purpose for our lives.
The Atmosphere
Most people believe that in order to be accepted by God they are first required to "get their stuff together." As a result they attend a service on Sunday often dressing up in an attempt to seem like they have everything together. We at theJourney know that most of the time we're not as neat as we pretend to be. In fact, our lives seem to always have some sort of internal dirt regardless of how much we try to deny it. Instead of trying to dress ourselves up and appear composed, we show up as we are with our insecurities, uncertainties, and longings. Authenticity, Healing, Freedom.
Lastly, we understand that not everybody has been raised in a Christian family. In fact, many of us weren’t. theJourney is particularly for people like this who are searching for a relevant way to engage and learn about our relevant God. Tradition is great, but it can be very discomforting and alien if you aren't accustomed to it.
