Information for Potential New Members

"From the outside looking in, you can never understand it.

From the inside looking out, you can never explain it."

Welcome Potential New Members!  The page is aimed to answer any questions you may have about joining the Greek system at Colgate and, more specifically, Tri Delta.

Our chapter was chartered in 1996 by a group of Colgate women who decided that another Greek option was necessary on this campus.  Currently, Tri Delta is one of the largest fraternities at Colgate with our home located at 84 Broad Street.  With every room filled in our three story house, our sisters are able forge deep and meaningful relationships.  Our sisters also find it easy maintain friendships with others outside of the Greek system.

Our members have accomplished great things as a chapter and within the Colgate community.  We are frequently awarded the President's Cup for having the highest GPA on campus, and were the first Colgate chapter of any fraternity or sorority to receive the highest distinction when reviewed by the administration.  We have had two Collegiate Chapter Presidents receive recognition as Outstanding Sorority President of the Year.  Many of our members have been inducted into Konosioni, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma and departmental honor societies.

What can you get out of membership in this chapter?

Membership in any sorority is a very personal choice and can be motivated by an interest in one or more aspects of sorority life.  Our new members often find that the leadership opportunities, philanthropic projects, and social occasions provided by Tri Delta exceed their expectations.

As you become better acquainted with your new member class and chapter members, you will find them to be supportive and excited to get to know you.  You will find this enthusiasm is sustained by members throughout their collegiate period, and beyond.

The benefits of joining Tri Delta do not end with graduation.  Many members have gone on to enjoy alumnae memberships, either as alumnae at large, or as a member of alumnae chapters located throughout the world.  Tri Delta's extensive alumnae network guarantees you will find a friendly face wherever life takes you after graduation. Tri Delta membership is a life long opportunity.

For potential new members with concerns about the time and financial commitment that accompany membership, please know that the chapter has means of accommodating your unique situations.  The Collegiate Chapter President (Kaitlin Tufts), Standards Committee (Including the New Member Educator - Alyssa Perez), Vice President of Finance (Lauren Schmetterling), or Vice President of Membership (Katherine Byrns) will be able to answer your specific questions.
