Conference entitled "Venice before San Marco:  Recent Studies on the Origins of the City."

 

Co-Conveners: Albert J. Ammerman and Charles E. McClennen

   

The conference will cover essentially a span of five centuries: from the fourth century A.D. (late Roman times) through the first half of the ninth century A.D.  Emphasis will be placed on architecture, urbanism and the environmental setting in the early Lagoon.
