The objective of the Raiders Summer Girls Hockey Skills Camp is to provide a hockey skill development platform for girls from the central NY and surrounding area.  It is an opportunity for those girls to be exposed to College level coaches and training techniques in a fun and enjoyable environment. This camp is for girls aged 6-12.

SKILLS CAMP FEATURES:                 

  • The camp will be three half-days in the mornings.
  • 2 hours on-ice and one hour off-ice instruction each day
  • Sessions will focus on basic skill development (skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting) as well as many small area games and scrimmages to provide avenues to apply learned skills.

DATES:
July 27-29, 2011.

LOCATION:
Colgate University is located on Route 12B in Hamilton, NY, 30 miles southwest of Utica and 38 miles southeast of Syracuse.  From Syracuse, take the NYS Thruway East to exit 34 (Canastota), Route 5 east to Oneida, and Route 46 south (across Route 20) to 12B South to Hamilton.  When driving to Hamilton, make sure to pick up Route 12B not Route 12.  The camp will be held at Starr Rink in the Reid Athletic Center which will be on your right traveling on Route 12B, just beyond the main campus area and pond.

COST:
The Cost of the 2011 Raiders Skills Camp is $175.00 per player

AGE & ABILITY:
The camp is for girls, ages 6-12 years. It is recommended that participants have at least one year of hockey experience.

ENROLLMENT:
Enrollment will be limited to at most 40 skaters and 4 goalies. So, act quickly to reserve your spot! Spaces will be filled on a first-come, first serve basis, by the date of receipt of a completed application and medical questionnaire (both found on the downloadable brochure on the bottom of this page) including full payment of $175.00.

EQUIPMENT:
No hockey equipment will be provided, please bring full-approved hockey equipment including helmets with full facemasks, mouthguards and sticks, etc.  Also, please bring off-ice workout gear (i.e. sneakers, t-shirt, shorts etc.) for the dynamic warm-up. We will provide a camp jersey to all participants.

SAMPLE SCHEDULE:
8:15 – 9:15 am                   On-Ice Skills Session—Focused on teaching and developing fundamental hockey skills
9:30 – 10:30 am                Off-Ice Skills Training-- Dry-land stickhandling, shooting, technique training
10:30 – 11:00 am               Video and Snack Time-- We’ll watch a different hockey related video each day
11:30– 12:30 pm                On-Ice Small Tactics Session – Focused on taking the skills worked on and applying them to game situations and battles with pace and speed.

*Please note: Players should arrive at the rink in time to be dressed and ready to get on the ice at 8:15 am. Players can be picked up after the last ice session (at 12;30 pm).

TO BRING WITH YOU:
It is strongly suggested that each participant bring a water bottle and a lunch/snacks to get them through the mornings. We WILL NOT provide food or drinks.

CAMP NOTE:
Please sign up early if you are interested in this camp. We have had to cancel due to low/late registration last year, The camp will have a minimum number of players required to run.
